Dead City Voice" is the fourth album - and the second vinyl album - by Rafał Iwański a.k.a. X-Navi:Et. It's the follow-up to acclaimed "Soundtracks for the Dying Moments" LP released on Instant Classic in 2012.
The theme of the city has appeared in the modern art territory quite a few times before. Wim Wenders, a cult German director, once said that "thecity shapes people, leaves its stigma on them and deforms them to its own likeness." Murray Schafer, a Canadian composer, while working on the concept of "soundscape", claimed that many of the surrounding sonic incidents infiltrates the music of our times. Following the footsteps of Charles Baudelaire among others, urban artists, Rafał Iwański and Ewa Bińczyk, replayed the city, penetrated its spirit and echoed it in their activities. Telling the city by means of sound and vision is becoming an inward journey as well.
Visually the album is of the highest value. The gatefold cover is adorned with works by Ewa Bińczyk. Additionally, a special edition of 33 copies include genuine intaglio prints signed by the author making it a true collector's item.
Inside the cover one can also find the literary text by Dariusz Brzostek (Ph.D. at the University of Toruń, Poland) - a literari, anthropologist and music journalist who has collaborated with many magazines, such as Glissando, Trans/Wizje, Antena Krzyku.

The album was released (25.10.2013) in a gatefold cover in a strictly limited edition of 250 copies by Zoharum in collaboration with Eter Records, a label set up by Rafał Iwański to release music by his projects (X-Navi:Et, HATI, Voices of the Cosmos, etc.) in digital and analogue formats.

The album was released also on tape by Instant Classic (25.10.2013, limited to 66 copies).

REVIEWS (excerpts) / RECENZJE (fragmenty):

I wonder what someone would imagine playing this music as
it is, without knowing these references; it might not be the city. But who cares about that? We know what it is about and it's the gesamtkunstwerk that counts. This is a beautiful record of some fine, dark ambient music, with a nice industrial touch to it, very occasionally. Great release!
Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly, number 910

A quite a smooth transition from tribal beats with minimal ascension into subtle electroacoustic music was actually very refreshing stuff bearing in mind that the thin line between the pompous dark ambient clichee is an easy one to cross. Rafał treads this verge and actually strays away from that. There is something familiar about this music. It's like a soundtracky field trip into the epic story telling without narrator.
Hubert Napiórski: felthatreviews.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/x-naviet-dead-city-voice.html

„Głosy Martwego Miasta”, poza działającą na wyobraźnię muzyką, intrygują oprawą plastyczną autorstwa Ewy Bińczyk.
Michał Fundowicz: www.nowamuzyka.pl/2013/10/30/xnavi-et-dead-city-voice/

"Dead City Voice" przynosi momenty intensywniejsze i o ile tamten ("Soundtracks for the Dying Moments") opowiadał historię jakiejś małej apokalipsy, to ten kreśli obraz świata na krawędzi zagłady – tak jakby rzecz rozgrywała się w innej skali.
Bartek Chaciński: polifonia.blog.polityka.pl

Zbiór raz korespondujących, innym razem kontrastujących, fantastycznych kompozycji, koniec końców układających się w spójny krajobraz. Choć nazewnictwo sugeruje post-apokaliptyczne wizje, bliżej tu do smutku i spokoju, niż do strachu i mroku.

Only Good Music: onlygoodmusic.pl/recenzje/x-navi-et-dead-city-voice-review

X-NAVI:ET, to rzecz jasna, projekt znanego z HATI, Rafała Iwańskiego. Miasto Iwańskiego i Bińczyk żyje i owe wydawane przezeń dźwięki obydwoje artystów próbowało wychwycić i przekazać w formie czytelnego komunikatu.

Necroweb: www.necroweb.de/x-naviet-dead-city-voice

Lux Atenea Webzin: luxatenealibros.blogspot.com/2014/01/x-naviet-dead-city-voice.html

Michele Viali, DARKROOM: www.darkroom-magazine.it/ita/107/Recensione.php?r=2948

You can find all the record’s data on the project’s Bandcamp and realize you’re faced with a truly mesmerizing artifact of future music. Walk along the navicon city and learn how to listen to its voice as still in our present and future as in the past.
Santa Sangre Magazine: santasangremagazine.wordpress.com/2014/07/20/x-naviet-%E2%80%8E-dead-city-voice/

Recommended second (vinyl) album by the solo project of RAFAL IWANSKI (HATI), a 6-track work about the psychic influences & transformations through the CITY, a dark filmic & emotional soundtrack to confront with the 'living dead' of one's town....
Drone Records

Rafał Iwański, also known as X:NAVI-ET, is taking listeners for a trip through areas similar to those from prose of William S. Burroughs. The artist is one of the formers of the group called HATI, which is creating original post-industrial or quasi-ritual music for gongs and other ethnic instruments and found objects. At a solo record you can hear an echoes of his main group, but in distinction to the acoustic sound of HATI, Iwański is using electronics as well. /.../ „Dead City Voices” besides of evocative music is impressive because of artwork made by Ewa Bińczyk. The album was released by Instant Classic as a cassette and by Zoharum and Eter as a vinyl record. Both versions looks magnificient and that's the reason you should purchase one of them.

CONCERT REVIEWS (excerpts):

To właśnie ta różnorodność i odpowiednia dynamika były siłą występu X-NAVI:ET.
Bartek Rumieńczyk, One Louder niby-fest II - relacja: musicnow.pl/koncerty/niby_fest_relacja

Relacja z One Louder niby-fest II, 27.09.2014: kulturastaroci.blogspot.com/2014/09/relacja-z-one-louder-niby-fest-ii.html

Jego muzyka wymagała uwagi i cierpliwości, którą wynagradzała intrygującym połączeniem szorstkości i delikatności.
