Album - created by Rafał Iwański - is composed of electroacoustic pieces recorded with analogue tone generators, machine filters, synthesizers, and, to a lesser extent, acoustic objects. Apparently, it's the most electronic face of X-NAVI:ET, and, at the same time, the reckoning of the post-industrial style which was an important stage on Rafał Iwański's creative path somewhere in the mid-1990s. "Brain Overloaded" is the sonic journey recorded between 2008 and 2011 related with the research on human brain. The question raised is if our industrial and digital world we created has started surpassing the capacity of our brains which were evolutionally designed to gather information. In other words, have they started to "overload"? Can the information surplus move us back? "Brain Overloaded" is an impulse for investigating ways of simply not going mad in this world.

Attention! The symptoms unlikely to occur after listening to the album are the decrease of IQ, withdrawal, stupor and indifference.

Some nods in the direction of post-industrial hiss and tempered clanking run their course, too, but, largely, Brain Overloaded is well hewn ambience with a multiple personality disorder eagerly poised to create maximum discomfort. Noodling squiggles and rhythmic undertow not unlike something you’d find on a more wayward Basic Channel cut bring things healthily into the 21st Century, whilst the dying throes of space junk and mining vessels keep the proceedings partly rooted to the place whence they were born. As late night listening goes, this is neither uneasy or easy but always, without doubt, eventful. Good going.

Album nawiązuje do badań nad ludzkim mózgiem i nakłania do refleksji nad współczesnością, głownie na relacji pomiędzy światem cyfrowym a mocami przerobowymi naszego mózgu. Czy przedawkowanie informacji lub zła ich selekcja może doprowadzić do jego przegrzania? Gdy nie będziemy potrafić wystarczająco szybko przetwarzać danych zostaniemy wykluczeni przez otoczenie? Nie są to łatwe tematy, ale mam wrażenie, że takimi problemami będziemy musieli się w przyszłości zmierzyć. Dlatego zalecam zażyć szczepionkę „brain overloaded” by już teraz nie dać się zwariować!

Dla zachowania prawidłowej kondycji mózgu należy dbać o jego dokładną konserwację, bowiem każde przetwarzanie informacji pozostawia po sobie efekty - niestety tym głównym jest przeważnie spadek wydajności a nawet "przegrzanie". X-NAVI:ET sprezentowało nam "oprogramowanie" do optymalizacji naszych centralnych jednostek decyzyjnych. Aby konserwacja była jednak skuteczna i przynosiła widoczne skutki, powinna być przeprowadzana regularnie. Wpiszcie zatem czym prędzej album "Brain Overloaded" do swoich prywatnych harmonogramów konserwacji. Ku higienie umysłu.

Nie wiem czy Rafał Iwański opierał się na podobnych badaniach podczas tworzenia muzyki na ‘Brain Overloaded’, w każdym bądź razie powstał materiał, który powoduje równie przyjemne świdrowanie narządów słuchu i łaskotanie półkul mózgowych, wprowadzający w bardzo miłe odrętwienie.

I don’t know whether Rafał Iwański relied on similar researches while creating the music on ‘Brain Overloaded ‘, in any case his work causes equally pleasant drilling the hearing organs and tickling the cerebral hemispheres, leading into the very nice numbness.
